If Only I Were a Dog Named Maddie

Today's picture comes from a giant dog statue in Simi Valley, California where I was knocking door to door selling pest control this last week.

The inquisitive mind might start to ask:  "WTF? John D. is a talented artistic guy that just graduated with a degree from BYU and doesn't need to do the same kind of work that high school drop outs are just as qualified to do".... and that's what I thought too.  Until I learned about the kind of money they make.

Basically, because I do not have a successful project such as maddieonthings.com (which is almost the SAME thing that I do, but with a dog, and generates TONS of cash for the writer) and because our latest shipment of 1,400 watches from China for my website kno-name.com got held up in customs tying up all our hard earned cash....
I now have to worry about how to make money.

So here I am, begging people to let me rid their home of insects instead of creating beautiful and interesting things.  FML.

jk, I still drive a Mercedes-Benz, my life isn't that bad ;)

Giant Concrete Face

If you have a giant concrete version of your face somewhere in your world then apparently you must be a pretty big deal that probably deserves respect.  But that won't stop me from climbing on top of you and taking a picture.

So if you're about to invent some new revolutionary way of thinking about the time-space continuum  or how to turn our bodies into robots that can live forever (I actually heard Apple is working on that from a hippie in Costa Rica that was convinced we'd have internet wired to our brains in 10 years.  Super rad guy, talked to him forever about this root in Peru that you have to take with a Shaman because you start throwing up while you're hallucenigating <---- actual correct spelling).... sorry got distracted, where was I? oh yeah, re-inventing something big.

Just know that whatever you do, they'll be some kid cyber-climbing with his robotic body on top of your face and somebody e-yelling "HEY! GET DOWN FROM THERE" right behind him.

Mounting with Friends

No homo.... but I love this pic.  If modern medical advances care didn't exist then I'd probably wouldn't even have this picture.  My buddy Chris was diagnosed with a brain tumor and even though it hasn't caused him any problems for the last couple of years, it's started to rear it's ugly head again.

It isn't as important what you do, as who you do it with.  Thanks for adding to my life Chris.  I hope everything works out.

My First Mounting

I'm reaching WAAAY back into my archives to bring you my first ever Mounting picture.  The thing I like most about this picture is the look on my companion's face like "WTF elder Storey... how old are you?"  I hope people always have to ask that question.

I don't know what it is about trying to be playful and youthful and maybe not respecting things the way other's think that they should be respected, but it gets me going.  If I know I'm not supposed to do something.... it makes me want to do it just a little bit more.  So be careful the next time you bring me around something or somebody you respect like your Bishop or Grandma, cause I'll most likely have someone take a picture as I try to climb on their back.

Choosing to See

Thanks to Bobbie (a cute Chinese girl that befriended us in Yungshuo last summer) we have this picture.  Supposedly this place is somewhere in China that Japan invaded or something.... but it made me realize that people only care about what directly impacts them.

Like i've never heard of all the people that died in that war.  Who knows how many millions of people die all over the world and I don't even seem to care.  I just go on living and choose not to see people in need.  What are you choosing not to see in the world?  Is it injustice?  World Hunger?  A abusive relationship?  Your own personal health? ..... could be anything.  As for me.... I'm choosing not to see the Hunger Games.  And that's final.

Is this really what police do all day?

"That face is the expression of one who is being watched by a security guard that has been specifically hired to keep people off." - a loose quotation by Scott Mantastic

You'd think there would be more important things for a human being to do than sit around and make sure nobody sits on a hunk of metal..... and you'd be wrong.  Apparently the "establishment" thinks that their time is not better spent saving babies, feeding hungry children, or buying Tom's so that poor children everywhere can have a fashionable pair of footwear.

The photo on the right is another example of the same situation.  Only this one happened under communist rule, which only goes to show that the USA and CHINA are actually the same country at the core.  Every government wants to oppress it's statue climbing citizens!  That's it!  I'm calling for a REVOLUTION!  I'LL BE AT THE FOREFRONT! ..... taking pictures of me on the statue of liberty as we tear her down.

Should I Call it Mounting?

Soooooo i've been jumping up and riding on things for a long time.  Ok maybe not that long, but still the thought of uploading all my photos tonight is daunting.  Instead I'm just going to do one of my favorites from my trip to Lijang, China and see if I get a response from anybody on the interweb.  If people send me their photos, i'll keep going.  If people don't send me their photos.... I'll probably still keep going, just lonely...by myself....with puppy dog eyes.

I've also been throwing around names.  I know "Planking" got big and I was thinking I need to coin the phrase "Mounting" right now.  So there.  Coined.  (credit to Angela De La Cruz aka the "credit mongerer" for the mounting reference that she may or may not have directly influenced)

LET THE MOUNTING BEGIN!
